Two labels applied onto the product from above and from underneath. It is not always particularly desirable to site a labeller underneath a moving conveyor to label the base of a product for many reasons; such as access, health & safety or simply keeping the labels clean & dry when they are so close to the floor. Where possible, we will always investigate and advise if the product can be turned over, in order to apply labels from above or the side. However, this is not always possible and products such as prepared foods would spoil if inverted, therefore often there is no alternative than to apply labels from below, either through a gap between two conveyor belts or to transport the product using twin side belts and label up through the middle of these.

Where the product is in a hinged clam-shell pack, a single label applied from the top, down the front and onto the base, does the job (whilst also sealing the lid closed), however the flexibility of having two separate labels when changes of ingredients and graphics occur, means this is still favoured by many. ALS provides machines that can slide easily in and out from hard to reach positions to allow operators safe access for loading of labels.
