. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . New Year, New Product - Introducing the ALS 256
Announcing availability from January 2008 of a special new member to the “Compact Class” family of labellers from ALS. Outwardly, looks can be deceiving, as it resembles the existing ALS 206 but inside, the two drive motors have been upgraded with two high-torque models, to give steep ramping acceleration curves for dispensing and a top labelling speed of 50 metres per minute. Accepting labels up to 160mm wide it will handle all but the largest of labels but it is with small labels that will also be of interest. Just like cars, how fast they can go is only half the story, its how fast they can get to their top speed which is of more interest and labelling is no different. Its no good if your labeller goes at 100 metres per minute if it takes too long to do it (by then 20 products have sped past without a label!). No, what is more often required is how many labels per minute can be applied accurately and the ALS 256 achieves outstanding results because it can dispense labels quicker than models from other manufacturers in the same “entry-level” price range. Eagerly anticipated, it is expected that the small footprint of the ALS 256 will enable it to integrate easily into tight areas on customers existing lines and machinery.

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . New Sales Position
Additional Sales Engineer required. ALS is looking for an additional person to expand the successful GB labelling machinery sales team. We see 2008 presenting good opportunities for the company, with the imminent announcement of new labelling machines for the year ahead and an introduction of some new and complementary equipment to expand our already wide product portfolio. Applications and CVs should be sent to Mrs Janet Wilson.
ALS confirm attendance at the Food Processing and Packaging Show EFI’08 in January 2008.
Situated at the Newark Show Ground, a region in close proximity to and well associated with food production and processing, it will be a good opportunity to demonstrate the ALS labelling range including the water-resistant IP65 range, which is anticipated to be of particular interest. Details can be seen in the News & Events section.

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . ALS Help Container Manufacturer Keep On Tracking
Advanced Labelling Systems takes receipt of one of their biggest orders of the year. An order for 60 print and apply and scanning systems, from a major plastics manufacturer with multiple production sites around the UK, will be using ALS equipment to place barcoded tracking labels to their outer packaging, which is used exclusively for dairy product. With already 12 systems installed, the role out planned for the next few months will bring the total number up to 72 lines. The barcodes will be scanned at various stages in the logistics supply chain, also supplied by ALS and logged by ALS custom-written software which integrates with the customer’s ERP computer system. Each barcode will contain the line the product was produced on, the time, date and a unique serial number to trace every single item. The system meets the ever increasingly stringent food packaging regulations and the company will benefit from efficiencies in automation.
